Jo Milnes, of Distinctive Pets – a small business started because of her love of dogs – has recently helped her elderly neighbours after the theft of three springer spaniels.

She has now decided to make a donation to the charity linked to the sales of one of her firm’s products – Natural Dog Treats Selection Boxes.

Jo said: “Whilst dog theft is never far from my mind and I’m careful with my own dogs, this serious issue has recently been brought to close for comfort.

“My elderly neighbours had their three springer spaniels stolen in February and I saw first-hand the devastation it has caused the couple.

“I have followed a very emotional journey helping the couple try to get back their treasured pets.”

Within a few days of the theft the two older dogs, Robbie and Jazz were returned safely home having been found in separate Lancashire towns.

Two-year-old Keedy is still missing but everyone is hopeful that he will be found and Jo is certainly not giving up helping Keith and Liz Fetches, Keedy’s owners.

DogLost, the UK’s largest lost and stolen dog free service, has been involved with the hunt for the stolen pets.

It also provides a platform for owners to register the details of their missing pets so that email alerts can be sent out to the local community and to help raise awareness concerning stolen and lost dogs.

Jo added: “The support that I’ve received from DogLost has been invaluable when I was thrown into the role of making Keith and Liz’s dogs ‘too hot to handle’.

“Although Keedy is still missing they don’t give up on getting a dog home and neither will I. By launching a new range of Natural Dog Treats Selection Boxes I am able to give a donation from each one sold to DogLost.”

Justine Quirk from DogLost said: “Dogs are part of the family for many people and for them to be cruelly snatched away from what they know and where they feel safe, is truly horrifying.”
