Planning application for tent/caravan pitches and camping pods at Lissett expected to be approved

The proposal, which will also see the erection of an amenities building and associated works including vehicular access on land north east of Mount Farm, is likely to get the green light at the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Eastern Area Planning Sub-Committee on Monday, June 28.

The application, by Mr and Mrs Goodwin, is for the change of use of land currently used as a paddock to a caravan and camping site including touring caravan pitches, tent pitches and camping pods.

The camping pods would meet the definition of a caravan and would not constitute buildings.

Lissett and Ulrome Parish Council strongly objects to the application for the following reasons:

○ The road where the proposed campsite entrance would be situated is a very busy road.

○ There are wagons from the nearby quarry and farm vehicles frequently using the road, along with normal vehicles.

○ Entering and exiting the campsite (especially towing a caravan) would be dangerous.

○ Given that there are no amenities in Lissett to serve the users of the proposed campsite, cars will be entering and exiting the campsite at all times of day.

○ Lissett is a small, quiet, rural village with approximately 28 properties.

○ The proposed campsite for 22 units would mean it is likely that the number of people using the campsite would be considerably more than the number of people living in Lissett.

Barmston and Fraisthorpe Parish Council also objected to the plans while a petition with 55 signatures also highlighted a number of issues.

The application is expected to get the thumbs up with certain conditions attached.

These include having no more than eight touring caravans, eight tents and six camping pods, and that the siting shall be in accordance with the layout shown in the proposal.
