AN ASPIRING singer from Bridlington is on the road to stardom after winning a pop idol style contest in America.
While holidaying in Orlando, Florida 18-year-old Jessica Pearson auditioned for the American Idol Experience at the Disney Hollywood Studios
With 30,000 people daily in the park, and between 300-500 auditionees, Jessica passed two auditions in front of Broadway stars, to land a spot in a ‘live’ show.
In front of a packed house of more than 1,100 people and a further 1.000 outside watching the show on a big screen Jessica won her show, going on to the Grand Finale.
Jessica, who has just passed her A-levels, said: “I would love to end up on the West End stage, but anything along those lines in that performing world is my goal and this was one of the best experiences of my life.
“I live to perform and this felt every bit as real as if I were on the X factor! From the actual stage itself, TV cameras, production to the filming and interviews they played during the show, it really was very special.”
Jessica has been a regular performer in stage productions from Bridlington School to the Spa and many other local venues.
And now after winning the Grand Finale she has got the chance to move onto the second round of the official American Idol - a dream that will have to wait as it is only open to American citizens.
