A rare late Victorian masterpiece of North Landing Flamborough, painted in 1882 by Edwin Henry Holder (1864-1917), will go under the hammer at Scarborough Auctioneer David Duggleby’s Spring Picture Sale on Monday March 16.

Flamborough Head, an oil on canvas 30cm x 47cm, shows a cobble being hauled in with distant ships in the background, and has been consigned by Nafferton art expert Robin Small.

He said: “It is a highly evocative study of a famous local view in a bygone age.” It carries a pre sale estimate of £300-£400.
