BRIDLINGTON Arts Festival gets underway this Saturday with a feast of entertainment at various venues throughout the town.
The festival runs until Monday, May 26 with something for everyone – music, theatre, dance, poetry, painting, sculpture and to cap it off a big street festival with some incredible street performers on the last weekend.
Saturday, May 10 – The Shamrock Experience, Irish jazz and funk doors, Spotlight Theatre, West Street, 7.30pm, £3 and £2.
Sunday, May 11 – Bridlington Arts Society Exhibition, north beach.
Sunday, May 11 – Spotlight Youth Evening, Spotlight Theatre, West Street, 7.30pm, £3 and £2.
Monday, May 12 - Drama from Theatre on the Wolds and Kirkella Dramatic Society, Spotlight Theatre, West Street, 7.30pm, £3 and £2.
Tuesday, May 13 – The Transatlantic Routes Sessions. Kristina Olsen, the Californian singer songwriter pens stories about real people's lives, sharing her wry and affectionate insight into what it is to laugh, love and lose in that complicated thing we call life.
A consummate entertainer with a strong bluesy voice, a raconteur of warmth and humour, her performances have been honed through constant touring in America, Australia and Europe. Spotlight Theatre, West Street, 7.30pm, adults £6 and children £3.
Wednesday, May 14 – Concert series, Ben Coupar presents Summer Recital: Evening Concert, a group called Consort of Voices from Graham Coatman's ensemble Leeds Guild of Singers, directed by Graham Coatman.Christ Church, Quay Road, 7.30pm, tickets £5, available from the Key Centre or contact ben.coupar@christchurchbridlington.co.uk.
Wednesday, May 14 – Spotlight Theatre special show for international mime artist Rowan Tolley presents A Fistful of Characters.
A shrewd and compassionate look at real life characters in real life situations. Performed with stunning accuracy, witty, moving and highly amusing, this one man show is presented as a collection of ser piece mimes, ranging from studies of ordinary people to scenes involving a multitude of characters and situations. Spotlight Theatre, West Street, 7.30pm, adults £6 and children £3.
Thursday, May 15 – Bridlington Arts society Exhibition, north beach.
Thursday, May 15 – An Evening of Mime and Music, Rowan Tolley and Brendan Murphy present an evening of mime and music, created by five community groups. Working as a part of Bridlington Arts Festival, they have created an exciting evening of original mime and music. Spotlight Theatre, West Street, 7.30pm, adults £6 and children £3. May 11-19 – Drama at Spotlight Theatre, once again local schools and drama groups from across the region, are gathering to take part in this well established and popular showcase.
