BIRDWATCHERS should head to Bempton's RSPB reserve this weekend for the Seabird Special and Viking Optical demonstration.
All the seabirds are now established on the cliffs – many such as the gannets and most of the guillemots and razorbills are already
sitting on eggs.
Kittiwakes have started building their little mud nests, flying inland to collect mud and grass
from the cliff top fields. The ever-
popular but elusive puffins are back and are also likely to be on eggs.
The special event includes guided walks throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday, which should be booked in advance, and a chance to field test a range of binoculars and telescopes ideal for both for birdwatching and general use.
Refreshments are available at the visitor centre and the event is a free, however there is a £3.50 charge per car.
Guided walks start each day at 10.30am, noon, 1.30pm and 3pm. For more information or to book call 851179.
