Great British Bake Off star Paul Hollywood will be bringing his ‘Get Your Bake On’ tour to Bridlington Spa.
The expert baker and BBC TV judge will be going on the road for his first live show, which will be heading to the venue’s Royal Hall on Friday 5 December 2014.
Paul’s tour, which promises an evening of fun stories demos and audience participation, will now span over 47 dates and will visit 41 UK and Irish towns and cities.
Get Your Bake On will see him demonstrate recipes, reveal some of the secrets of being a TV chef and take the audience on a journey through his life in baking. The show will culminate with four lucky randomly chosen audience members coming on stage to bake with Paul.
Organisers of the show said: “Audience members will get a real insight into Paul’s life and career which has seen him become a household name.
“From the story of how his father persuaded him to ditch his path as a trained sculptor and join the family baking business; tales of his time as head baker at some of the world’s most exclusive hotels, which lead to him becoming one of the country’s finest artisan bakers; to anecdotes from his time filming The Great British Bake Off.
“Paul will demonstrate up to four of his favourite recipes during the show and four lucky audience members, chosen at random, will be invited to take part in one baking challenge with the chance to be dubbed star baker.”
Audience members will also be given the opportunity to put their own questions to Paul in an open Q&A.
Paul said: “When I was approached to do a tour, I jumped at the chance, I can’t wait to share my passion for baking with a live audience.”
Andrew Aldis, general manager of The Spa Bridlington, said: “Collapsed sponges, rock-hard doorstep loaves and soggy bottoms are the result of any baking that I attempt so an opportunity to find out how to do better from the BBC’s finest gets a thumbs-up from me.
“This show will herald the beginning of our 2014 Christmas programme; which, without giving away too much at this stage, will feature a significant cookery theme.”
John Spence, executive chef at The Spa, said: “Baking and cooking is very much a social thing but it also provides great career opportunities. Anything that promotes interest in catering is great for the profession. I’ll be interested in seeing whether Paul Hollywood can steal my crown for the best fruit scones in Bridlington.”
The second leg of the tour will kick off in Poole in November following its initial conclusion at the Hammersmith Apollo at the end of May.
