A FORMER St John Ambulance official has said people are still risking their lives on Bridlington's seafront.
David Hollingworth had his camera with him and took these photographs of last Saturday's high tide from a safe vantage point near Leisure World, north of Bridlington harbour.

"There were quite a few people standing very close to the edge to watch the waves.

"It is a very dangerous thing to do, but they just don't seem to realise it.

"Some were taking photographs, which is what I wanted to do, but realised I needed to be much further back to be safe," said Mr Hollingworth, former St John Ambulance divisional officer, who used a telephoto lens.

His pictures were taken around 5.30pm when the tide was at its highest.

Earlier, coastguards had taped off part of the area to the public and Bridlington's North Pier was also chained off and closed to the public for the whole weekend for safety reasons.

Last month coastguards had to move several people back from the front during similar high tide and rough sea conditions.
