BRIDLINGTON gave a rousing reception to soldiers from the Second Battalion, the Yorkshire Regiment.
Troops who have recently returned from Afghanistan marched through the town on Saturday in a freedom parade.
Crowds lined the route to show their appreciation for the regiment, which was formerly the Green Howards.
They marched from Leisure World to Prince Street, where they were greeted by dignitaries including the town's mayor, Coun Tony Padwick, before continuing on to Bridlington Spa.
Former Green Howard Arnie Porter, of Brookland Road, said: "This was a huge success and the welcome our town gave the lads was terrific, they really took our lads to their hearts.
"What a wonderful tribute to the regiment by our town. Everyone was determined to make the day truly a day to remember.
"Thank you Bridlington and God bless the regiment."
Freedom was first granted to the Green Howards in 1945 by the former Borough of Bridlington.
It allows them the honour of marching through the streets of Bridlington with bayonets fixed, colours flying and bands playing.
