YOU just cannot get the staff these days – a familiar moan from bosses up and down the land.
Now, a team of youngsters are out to prove them wrong, and dismiss another business saying – that if you pay peanuts you get monkeys.

As part of the annual Lifestyle Project, members of the Brid’s Bovvered Bunch are writing to dozens of companies in the town offering to work for an hour or two, in exchange for a small donation.

The money they raise will go towards getting a multi-sports arena at the Gasworx Skate Park site.

Maggie Masters, the team’s adult advisor, said: “It is just something different from car boot sales or washing cars.

“They are going to try to contact every single shop and business in Bridlington, offering their services. We just need to draw up a price list.

“We hope people will support them, and even if we cannot go to a business because of health and safety rules, they can still make a donation.”

The team is made up of Maggie’s daughter Cindy, Joel Snowden and Scott and Hannah Morris, who have welcomed younger sister Robyn to the group for the first time. Age restrictions mean this will be the team’s last year in the Lifestyle project and they are determined to go out with a bang.

They also plan to carry out a survey, asking teenagers what facilities they would like to see at the planned sports area in Dukes Park.

But 15-year-old Scott might end up taking on this side of the project. He is restricted to doing paperwork after falling off his bike, breaking his leg and spending three weeks in traction at Scarborough Hospital.

Companies wanting to support the team can email maggiesbunch49@aol.com.
