Bridlington entertained second-placed Fenner in their Bank Holiday Monday fixture, having seen Saturday’s trip to Sessay being abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Brid won the toss and chose to field. They got off to a good start by picking up an early wicket but Hatfield (49) and Davy (16) added 54 for the second wicket before both were removed by Steve Janney.

After this, Brid picked up wickets at regular intervals with Janney taking a further victim and Casey Rudd claiming two at the other end.

Frankie Reffold, making his first team debut, returned 3-24 in an excellent six-over spell. Fenner were bowled out for 163 in the last over with Hewitt (20) the only lower order Fenner man to make a significant contribution.

Brid’s reply never really got going as they lost wickets regularly.

Only Rich Lount with 28 and Sam Edmundson (36no) showed much resistence. Robinson (3-26) and Croft (3-47) did the damage as Brid were reduced to 116/9 with 10 overs still to go.

A good effort by Jamie Boynton with his skipper saw the pair almost bat out the remaining overs but the last wicket fell in the 47th over as Fenner picked up 30 points.

Bridlington 2nds hosted Fylingdales in a game which beat the weather and the away team batted first.

They scored 147/6 with Husband top scoring with 36.

In a close game, Brid just fell two runs short in the run chase.

There were good contributions from Elliott Traves 32, Steve Lount 35 and Frankie Reffold 33.

The successful bowlers for Fylingdales were Jackson (3-40) and Thompson (4-35).
