Sewerby 1sts enjoyed a comfortable victory over fellow promoted side Acomb in their first match in the Premier League.
Skipper Ben Dobson won the toss and asked Acomb to bat first. The openers made steady progress to reach 52 before Nicholls was out for 10 in the 16th over caught by wicketkeeper Luke Jennison off the bowling of the captain.
Dale was out for 46 with the score at 75 but then tight bowling by Shaun Acton and Lewis Beasley reduced the visitors to 90 for 6 after 36 overs.
Experienced players Burton and Sykes steadied the ship but thanks to more good bowling and excellent fielding, Acomb were never able to take control.
Sykes made 24 and Burton 28 not out but a fine effort drom Sewerby saw Acomb restricted to 151 for 7 from their 50 overs.
Acton finished with 3 for 29 from 16 overs and Beasley 2 for 35 from 14.
Dobson and Jennison set off at a brisk pace and put on 28 in six overs before Dobson was bowled for 11.
Jennison was out for 13 three overs later and another wicket in the next over saw Sewerby struggling at 32 for 3.
This brought together Russ Robinson and Mike Artley who batted calmly and positively putting on 103 in 25
over before Artley was out for 55.
Robinson departed for 42 in the next over but Matt Dandy with 10 not out and Sam Tennant (8 not out) saw Sewerby safely home with 12 overs to spare.
