Bridlington Town will be looking to bounce back after defeat to Whitley Bay last weekend.

AFTER last weekend’s FA Cup defeat to Whitley Bay, Bridlington Town face a tricky test in the league with a trip across the Humber Bridge to face Winterton Rangers.

Town’s away trip means Scarborough Athletic will be playing at Queensgate on Saturday afternoon. They face Glasshoughton Welfare, a team Bridlington recorded their only win to date against this season. Kick off in both games is at 3pm.

At Dukes Park, Bridlington RUFC begin their pre-season campaign when Leeds-based Roundhegians visit for a friendly. Despite playing in the division below Bridlington this season, they won their league last year and will provide a decent challenge for Rich Girking’s men.

Kick off is at 3pm and admission is free, with the 1st and 2nd XV in action.

Cricket leagues are reaching the business end of the season. Bridlington 1sts are away at Fenner in the York Senior League but high-flying Sewerby 1sts are at home, and face Harrogate 2nds on the clifftop.

Flamborough 1sts are at home to Staxton and Bridlington 2nds host Wykeham, while Wold Newton 2nds could clinch the Derwent Valley League Division C title if they beat Thornton Dale 2nds.

Saturday is also the final day of the 155th annual Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club regatta, with the Guy Shackles Race rounding off the programme in Bridlington Bay.
