Sewerby entertained Beverley in a high-scoring thrillerin the mist on the cliff top on Saturday.

Beverley were asked to bat first and lost an early wicket with the score at 10. This brought Jon Fisher to join opener Faisal Abid and together they put on 81 for the second wicket before Dom Warters had Fisher caught by Lewis Beasley for 40.

Sewerby tried several bowling changes but were unable to contain Abid and he scored 102 from 97 balls with 13 fours and a six before Shaun Acton lured him down the wicket and he was smartly stumped by Mark Tennant.

Olly Grantham was next out for 32 and although Sewerby now managed to contain the batsmen, 46 not out from 38 balls from Alex Morrell saw the Beverley innings close on 258/7.

Thanks to some wayward bowling the Sewerby innings got off to a flying start with 17 runs coming from the second over and 14 from the fourth. Both openers were out by the eighth over but the score had reached 42 and a partnership of 73 between Mike Artley and Acton took the score past the 100 mark by the 21st over before Acton was out for 35.

Ben Dobson joined Artley and they took the score to 170 before Artley was out for a fine 65.

Russ Robinson joined Dobson with 88 runs needed from 13 overs and these two scored at a consistent rate with Dobson conjuring up a six each time the run rate was threatening to climb.

With three runs needed from eight balls, Robinson was run out for 40 and next ball Dobson was bowled for 63.

However, Tom Chippendale scrambled two from the first ball of the last over and then hit the third ball for six to clinch a great win for Sewerby.
