Mulgrave coasted to victory against Bridlington 3rds in the final of the Home Guard Sunday Cricket Cup at Forge Valley.

Batting first, they had a steady start of 41 from the opening partnership of James Newton (17) and Chris Clarkson (19) but after their parting, skipper Andrew Thompson scored a brilliant 111 which included 16 fours and four sixes.

He was helped to push the score to a massive 247/4 by Joe Hinchliffe who hit a splendid 55 not out when their innings closed after the allotted 30 overs. Bridlington’s best bowler was Jack Ibbotson with 2-36.

In reply, Bridlington 3rds lost wickets regularly with their top scorer being youngster Frankie Reffold (19), and others scoring double figures being Phillip Robson (15), Dean Welch (17) and Harrison Male (18) and could only muster 123/9 at the end of their 30 overs.

The best Mulgrave bowlers were Luke Jackson 3-33, and Andrew Cass 2-20. This left Mulgrave with a huge 114-run victory.
