Students on track for black belt grading
THE Bridlington Wado Ryu Club have had a good start to the Dan grading (black belt) with five gold tag students from the club practicing and getting ready for their black belts in February 2010.
Students going for black are Roy Mitchell, Phil May, David Morris, Scott Morris and Amy Anderson. Their first step was to get their advanced first aid which they all passed with flying colours. They still have a lot to work at but the start is good and they are on the right track.
The club is also celebrating the honoured step up the ladder for the club’s teacher Sensei Brian Marshall who gained his 6th Dan on a seminar at Beverley on the April 26.
Sensei Darrel said: “This is a big boost for my sensei and the club, I am so happy for sensei Brian as he always devotes his time and effort for the club and works hard for his students and never ever takes any credit for his time or his effort.
“He was presented with it by our retired association’s Master Soke Sangwin which makes the 6th Dan in my eyes more special as he came in to present Sensei Brian with his certificate. I am very proud and honoured to have Sensei Brian as my Sensei.
“I know that myself, sensei Ian and all his students would like to say congratulations and let’s just hope that this is the good start for the club.”
The club train every Friday night at the sports hall on Gypsey Road run by sensei Brian Roku Dan (6th degree black belt), 6.30pm to 7.30pm 7 years to 12yrs 2, 7.30pm to 9.30pm 12years upwards 2.50.
