SEWERBY maintained their position at the top of the York Senior League Division Two with a four-wicket victory over much-fancied Malton and Old Malton.
Skipper Ben Dobson won the toss and invited Malton to bat first.
Russ Robinson took the first wicket of S Linsley (13) and then excellent bowling from Aidy Long backed up by some more good fielding by Sewerby saw Malton lose wickets at regular intervals.
With only M Haines (22) making any real contribution Malton were all out in the 24th over for 88 with Long finishing with 6 for 29 from 11.5 overs.
When Sewerby batted Lewis Beasley set off at his usual pace and with Mike Artley put on 40 for the first wicket before Beasley was out for 24 in the seventh over.
Artley (23) and Chris Chapman (12) took the score to 58 before four quick wickets saw Sewerby at 69 for 5 and Malton sensing an unlikely victory.
Skipper Dobson steadied things with 14 and when he was out with the score at 81, Ricky Robinson carried on from the two previous matches and hit two fours in successive balls to seal the victory and 30 points for Sewerby.
