Sewerby beat league leaders Selby
SEWERBY travelled to league leaders Selby Town, and with another toss won, captain Chris Briggs challenged the home side to set a score.
But immediate trouble was all they got as Steven Hood safely pouched the first snick behind to remove opener Cruise for a duck, from the bowling of Russ Robinson.
He then also blew away Selby's star man Wild, lbw for a lowly 7, and worse was to follow as Rob Coates made a very sharp chance at slip count to remove Smailes from Ben Dobson, who then immediately clean bowled Wheeler.
And when Nicky Johnson had an lbw decision go his way Selby were floundering at 39 for 5.
As always, a partnership dug in and Lamb with 42 and Lake with 45 gave Selby some hope.
When Hood quickly stumped Lamb, Moore came and played a good hand to score 40 not out and leave Selby with a below par 167 for 8, with Russ Robinson 3 for 54 and Nicky Johnson 3 for 68 the leading bowlers.
After tea, Briggs 24 and Dobson, with an entertaining 52, helped Sewerby push for victory,
Dobson was unluckily lbw but Mike Artley was once again on hand to imperiously add 62 not out to the cause and he and Shaun Acton calmly knocked off the runs to bring home the full 30 points and put Sewerby back into the title race once again.
