Junior sails into second round of Yorkshire Plate

Malton and Norton U16 0

Bridlington U16 67

Yorkshire Plate First Round

BRIDLINGTON started very strongly, scoring the first try in the opening minutes of the game.

Malton seemed to have no answer to the strong running of the team. The backs put up a good display of rugby, supported as ever by a strong pack.

It was not all plain sailing as the scoreline would suggest though, as Malton strung some good phases of play together, but their handling ultimately let them down.

Bridlington tackled well, turning over ball many times, which enabled them to get a good attacking platform.

The visitors seemed to dominate as the scoreline increased, running in many tries in each half.

The home side continued to battle away to the final whistle, camped out short of the line on a couple of occasions, but with no points to show for all their hard work.

Bridlington will now have to wait for the results of the draw to see who they will face in the next round of the competition, but they are seeking a home tie.

Bridlington’s try scorers were Callum Sanderson, Ben Smith, Taylah Muru-King, Jordan McGuire, Tom Astle, James Houghton and Matt Faulkner, while Ben Smith kicked six conversions.
