After last week’s game at Twickenham, and the euphoria afterwards, no disrespect to Knottingley but Saturday’s game seemed as if we were playing in an allotment.
No cup final hangover for Bridlington
Following a great weekend at Twickenham, Bridlington found themselves back to work as normal, with a trip to Knottingley, who were hoping for a win or at least two bonus points, to move above Barnsley and off bottom position.

Speaking emotionally in the tunnel at Twickenham immediately after the game, Bridlington’s director of rugby Rich Girkin said: “After the first 20 minutes, Brighton looked like they might embarrass us, but we won the next hour comfortably.

Our objective was to put in a good performance and keep the good run of form. We made several changes, with Ryan Kerr and Ryan Girking returning fronm injuries and Will Davies from holiday. Zolani Faba started at prop in his last game before his return to South Africa, and Lee Warley came in to replace the unfortunate Gary Healey who picked up a training ground injury.
