Potter dropped EIGHT times as he top scores

Sewerby 3rds had a long journey through torrential rain to Robin Hood’s Bay to meet Fylingdales 2nds.

On a very wet pitch, winning the toss was vital but Sewerby 3rds failed to do so once again and were duly asked to bat.

Good controlled bowling from veteran Bill Estill, ably assisted by a quartet of junior players, saw Sewerby slump to 37/5 after 20 overs.

Ben Potter then lived up to his magical surname as he was dropped on no less than eight occasions on his way to a top score of 32 runs.

Mark Pallister (26) heaved some lusty blows towards the end of the innings to enable Sewerby 3rds to make the small total of 90 all out.

After tea, as the pitch continued to dry out the batting became easier and although all the Sewerby bowlers bowled well, the batsmen had plenty of time on their side.

Despite two excellent run-outs from from Jack Newby, Sewerby failed to make inroads into the Fylingdales batting line-up and it was left to talented junior Brearley (53) to steer his team to a win in the 36th over.

Another poor result result for the 3rds who need to get back to winning ways, after only picking up one point.
