Hockey ladies secure first win of the season

Bridlington Ladies 2nds 4

Burton Pidsea 1

Bridlington’s extra training over the summer really showed and their passing was much sharper.

They played with confidence, Jenny Wilson took on the role of playmaker with strength and vision supported in midfield by Liz Smith and new captain Becky Wilson. The ball was taken up the wings with excellent running by Zoe Messenger and Laura Hughes.

The first goal was struck by Liz Stuart but deflected into the goal by the opposition. Shortly afterwards Stuart bagged a second without help from the opposition.

The second half started with Pidsea on the attack. They had been pinned back by Caroline Sumner, Tracey Wright and Chloe Smyrk in the first half however they penetrated the defence and scored from a penalty corner.

More hard work great passing and running by the Bridlington attack soon paid dividends with a goal for Sarah Green.

Pidsea came back determined and a great shot was battered away by Grace Chatterton in goal.

Bridlington’s last goal of the match was scored by lethal Stuart and Pidsea had to defend with great resilience to thwart the forwards and prevent further goals.
