Yorkshire League Division Two

THE start of a back-to-back weekend for Bridlington Ladies began with a home match against Garforth.

Taking control from the start, they took the ball forward pressurising the defence, Booey Brown then capitalised on this opportunity to score within minutes of the first half starting.

The match continued with many opportunities that were unlucky not to be converted into goals.

However Lisa Mussett managed to find the net and from here on in Brid dominated the play with most of the action in the opposition half.

Three more goals followed making sure Brid had made their mark on the game before the break.

In the second half, the opposition came out strongly, determined to create problems for Bridlington.

However the excellent defending of Cara Gittus, Sarah Hardcastle, Caroline Sumner and Sharon Shephard stopped any potential threat from Garforth.

The defence held strong and brought the play up into Brid’s attacking half.

Bridlington’s midfield took advantage of this with great teamwork between Jo Wood and Katie Shephard.

This gave more opportunities for goals, as the wingers Amy Hill and Laura Hughes drew the opposition wide creating space for Jo Wood to score.

As the game moved into the final 10 minutes Bridlington did not take their foot off the pedal, a lovely ball passed from the left wing gave Di Levitt the opportunity to score her third goal of the match.

This spurred Bridlington Ladies on further, and when a battle ensued in front of goal it gave Amy Hill chance to score her first of the season.

Goalscorers: Booey Brown (3), Di Levitt (3), Lisa Mussett (3), Jo Wood and Amy Hill.

Player of the match: Booey Brown
