Sewerby entertained Clifton Alliance on Saturday and having lost the toss, were asked to take first knock.
After losing a wicket to the fifth ball of the match, Mark Tennant and Mike Artley had to dig in and had taken the score to 36 from 16 overs before Tennant was run out for 16.
Artley soon followed for 14 and Sewerby found themselves in the familiar position of 44/4 after 21 overs.
A partnership of 69 between Lewis Beasley and Tom Chippendale lifting the scoring rate before Chippendale was out for a breezy 37.
Two more wickets fell in quick succession but Rob Coates, with 12, and Mark Fairburn, with 14 not out from 12 balls, helped take the score to 175/8 from the alloted 50 overs.
Beasley finished with a fine 47 not out.
Chippendale and Russ Robinson had a fiery opening spell with Robinson getting an early breakthrough. They were unable to follow this up until the second wicket fell to Shaun Acton with the score at 60.
Several bowling changes were made but despite two more wickets for Acton the score reached 137/4.
Opener Joe Ashdown had remained resolute and he was joined by John Hunter who hit 26 not out from 22 balls for Clifton to reach the winning target with two-an-a-half overs to spare.
Ashdown finished on 81 not out to leave Sewerby still searching for that elusive first victory of the season.
