CHAMPIONSHIP-chasing Sewerby 1sts beat the weather, and their opponents York, to take a major step towards sealing the York Senior League Division Two title.

They dodged the showers to wrap up an eight-wicket win on Saturday, meaning they are now almost 80 points clear at the top of the table, with six games to play.

They remain unbeaten in the league, with 11 wins from 16 games, and have more points than any other team in the league’s eight divisions.

The only low note was a defeat to Driffield on Sunday in the semi-final of the Readman Cup at Heworth.
