North Yorkshire under 15s lifted the new Grayson Lake Trophy after seeing off rivals Cleveland in a prestigious county match at Sport Mulgrave.

Cleveland batted first and amassed 164/5 from their 45 overs, with A Ditta scoring 42 and L Kennedy 37.

North Yorkshire knocked off the required runs with some comfort, reaching 164/6 with eight overs to spare in the annual match at Lythe.

Nat Cutts was the star man for the Tykes’ schoolboys, striking 81 and his partnership with Bridlington’s Harry Burnhill clinched the game.

Driffield’s Connor Robb hit a decent knock of 14 and kept wicket well for North Yorkshire.

Adrian Grayson, Chairman of North Yorkshire Schools Cricket who runs the U15s team, said: “It was a wonderful day as normal.

“They [Mulgrave] love putting the game on and they are a credit to the club and the area.”

The trophy, which is to be competed for annually in the fixture between the two, was named after the men running each side - Mr Grayson and his counterpart at Cleveland, Gordon Lake.
