Bridlington are one game away from retaining their Yorkshire League Division Three title.
They took a huge step towards winning the league again by beating Chesterfield A 7-2 at the weekend.
Captain Paul Robinson said: “It’s incredible how we are at the top of the league with one match remaining.
“We have had so many injuries and unavailabilities this season. If we beat Doncaster and get three points we will be champions again in a very competive league.
“It just shows what a team spirit we have at our club and so many good players, even though we’re the oldest team in the league.
“Nigel Fell will be missing for the last match on April 10, which is a blow, but hopefully Jo Robinson and Claire Park will be back in the team after missing this match.”
Despite having key players missing against Chesterfield, Bridlington managed a brilliant performance against a very good team.
Robinson and Fell won 21-19 21-18 in a tight first men’s match, and Jack Torbett and Robinson followed it up with a 21-19 21-17 win.
Helen Browne was brilliant winning her doubles with Justine Beadnall and Andrea Pickles, who was making her Yorkshire League debut.
In the mixed doubles, Robinson and Beadnall and Torbett and Pickles both won.
Bridlington’s 2nd team lost 8-1 to York B and 9-0 to Acklam, who are second in the league.
