Trish Watson and Dawn Blues were named Bridlington Cycling Club’s joint riders of the month - the first time the award has been shared.
Both women were among the party which travelled to the French Pyrenees for a training camp. More than 900km were cycled during the week and with climbs of 17km, heights of more than 1300m and heart-stopping decents, it was a week to improve fitness and test courage.
Blues said: “It was a fantastic experience, I hope to return there during summer”.
Watson added “Just completing each day was an achievement, I couldn’t believe how difficult it became at times”.
It was an exhausting week for the fittest male riders, so for the duo to match their endurance was tremendous.
Closer to home, two difficult climbs after Burton Fleming are only the warm up for the lung bursting uphill sprint to the line at Boynton in the Mountain 10 Time Trial.
Stew Pickard took the victory again, and is Division One’s in-form rider by some distance.
Steve Ward took full advantage of Adam Yates’ turn to marshal by securing his second Division Two win, while Matt Pilling took the honours in Division Three, posting a very respectable sub-30-minute time.
