By hammering Driffield Rec 9-0, Flamborough clinched the Mixed League Division Five title with two matches to spare.

The team has remained unbeaten all season and captain Paul Robinson said: “The ingredients for success is a good team spirit and squad which Flamborough have had all season.”

Robinson and his wife Jo played well in their three matches Paul not losing a service match in their three games. Jo played some good long shots as they won 8-2, 8-5 and 8-1.

Nick Brunton and Kate Manson had the closest game of the night in their last match against Driffield’s third pair. Manson used her experience in tight matches to win 8-7 and the Flamborough couple won their other two matches 8-3 8-4.

A new partnership which gelled well as a pair was Mark Pratley and Cheryl Edeson, who played well to win all their matches 8-2, 8-2 and 8-5

Other players to play in the winning mixed team during the season were Steve Lister, who has played a dominant part in Flamborough’s success, Bill McArdle, Steph Pratley and Suzanne Toes.

In the Men’s League Division Three, Flamborough enjoyed a good 7-2 win over Beverley on a lovely night for tennis.

Mark Pratley and Simon Tibbett teamed up to win 8-1 and 8-4 with an 8-0 walkover, as Beverley only had four players which was disappointing for a club as big as theirs.

Robinson and McArdle lost 8-2, then won 8-1 and Davis and Brunton won 8-3 but lost 8-0.

Flamborough have secured their Divison Three place for next year. If they want to finish higher up the table next season they could do with two more players to really strengthen their team and to take more pressure off Pratley and Lister.
