Bridlington’s Chance Wedge has enjoyed a successful couple of weeks after a winning the vacant Yorkshire Challenge Belt, before defending it only seven days later.
Wedge, who boxes for the Westway club in Scarborough, travelled to Halifax to take on Johnny Smith of Market District Boxing Club of Leeds for the vacant bantamweight title.
The 19-year-old had to call upon his footwork and superb fitness to stay away from the aggressive Smith to secure the win.
Wegde didn’t waste time defending his new strap, travelling to Doncaster to take on home favourite Ryan Sykes.
He silenced a raucous crowd, using his slick boxing skills to win a unanimous points decision.
