Matthew Bonnett had to settle for a frustrating third place in the lastest round of the Leeds Junior League.
He had a slow qualifying session, getting stuck behind other drivers and struggled to set a quick time. He qualified in sixth with his closest title rival on pole.
When the race started, Bonnett knew he had to make up positions to get some good points. He tried a risky overtake and collided with the driver in front which caused both drivers to spin out.
Bonnett received a stop-go penalty which saw him come out one full lap behind and in last place , meaning a podium place looked long gone.
However, he started picking off drivers one by one, and as his rival took the chequered flag, it was now or never.
He again went for the same risky overtake in the same corner and made it, putting him into third place after a tenatious drive which gave him good points and limitd the damage done by his rival winning the race.
