Two of Bridlington RUFC’s promising youngsters will spend five months in New Zealand as part of their rugby development.

Callum Sanderson and Otis Floyd are heading to Stratford in Taranaki next month.

The Dukes Park club has a strong link with the club because one of their directors is former Bridlington captain John Dazley.

Bridlington’s director of rugby Rich Girking said: “They have both been fantastic for us. They are both good lads, keen to learn and they have only just turned 18.

“Callum has been playing second row and at this level it is a tough job for a teenager.

“At scrum-half, Otis has been playing in one of the key positions on the rugby field, and both have improved as the season has gone on.

“They will both learn plenty of things in New Zealand and will come back better players.”

The downside is that both will miss the Yorkshire Shield final at York in May.

“They have both played a big part in getting us there, and it is disappointing they won’t be with us,” added Girking.

“But I am sure they will do the club proud.”

The duo are due back in East Yorkshire at the end of August, in time for the start of the new Yorkshire One season
