BRIDLINGTON Road Runners’ Phill Taylor enjoyed the perfect preparation for this month’s London Marathon with a comfortable win in the first Hull Marathon.

Despite a midweek injury scare which had left him doubtful for Sunday’s race, he finished in a time of 2:31:29, more than eight minutes clear of his nearest rival.

He heads to the capital looking to break the 2:30 barrier.

John Nolan came home in 46th place in 3:09:14 and Martin Smith overcame injury to finish 86th in an excellent 3:20:31.
