Ennerdale swimming pool was the venue for the Hull and District No Frills Gala and Bridlington Swimming Club sent 10 of their members to compete.

This was an open event with races over 50m in each stroke. No medals were given out, so this was all about times and was a chance to gain and improve Yorkshire qualifying times for February and March.

The squad was up against swimmers from other clubs including Pocklington, Beverley, South Holderness, South Hunsley and Driffield.

For 10-year-old Harry Guy, it was his first licensed gala and he performed well under the pressure.

Danielle Coverdale and Katie Nicholson found themselves side-by-side in the 50m backstroke heat and finished with exactly the same times.

Brooke Hughes, Jasmine Sissons and Niamh Hall swam well in the 11 years age group with Lily Sellick finishing in the top five of the 10 years age group in both her races.

Dru Hall gained a first place in the 50m backstroke in the 11 years age group and secured good performances in his other races, while Lewis Hebden and Tom King also placed well in their age groups.
