Runners take home plenty of prizes from race at Sproatley

The East Hull Summer League race at Sproatley was, once again, well attended by members of Bridlington Road Runners with a pleasing number of prize winners.

Phill Taylor says that he is beginning to feel ‘normal’ again after his recent marathon effort and was pleased with his first place finish in a time of 37:59.

Next home was Danny Brunton who was eighth in 41:50 and he was followed by Simon Ellerker who ran 45:31 to finish 17th.

Sarah Wood had a great race to finish 24th in 46:59 and she also won the third lady prize.

Wood was followed by Emma Brown in 48:25 (31st) who was the first F35 and next was Cathy Wood (51st) in 51:55 who was the handicap winner on the night and is the current handicap league leader.

Other prize winners were: Janet Potter (59th) 53:12 1st F55, Judy Allison (78th) 55:34 1st F60 and Ray Robinson (70th) 54:15 was fourth in the handicap on the night.

Other runners were: Steve Frankish (58th) 53:06, Simon Porter (67th) 53:59, Verona Petty (82nd) 56:10, Zena Boreman (97th) 59:53, Michelle Rollinson (99th) 60:06, Zoe Ellis (100th) 60:13 and Ben Smith (111th) 63:52.

On a blustery Saturday morning, there was a really a good field of 66 runners taking part in the Sewerby Parkrun and probably for the first time Brid runners managed to fill the first five places.

Phill Taylor was the first home in a time of 17:32 and he was followed by Danny Brunton in a personal best time of 18:00.

Nick Hellewell was the third to finish in 18:47 and not long after were Peter Gulc in 19:08 and Martin Smith 19:14.

Zoe Williams equalled her PB in finishing 34th in 26:54 and Mandy Holah continued her good run of form to finish 38th in a PB time of 27:18.

Other times: Kevin Sissons (12th) 21:47, Ashley Porter (16th) 23:05, Ray Robinson (19th) 24:21, first timer Harvey Roberts (20th) 24:30, Ben Smith (28th) 25:56, Adam Fairest (30th) 26:13, Wendy Foster (48th) 29:42, Simon Porter (51st) 30:09 and Kirsten Porter (52nd) 30:13.

Six Bridlington runners took part in a 10K Trail Race in the wonderful surroundings of Castle Howard estate on Sunday.

Andy Baker finished in 47th place with a time of 44:39 and Becky Clifton was next in 50:49 in 131st position.

Stuart Atkinson also finished under the hour in 226th place with 56:08.

Next to finish was Andrea Parker 61:55 (317th), Mark Loft 62:58 (329th) and Kath Baxter 65:36 (353rd)
