A lovely sunny start to the Welton Cross Country race on Sunday, did not prepare Bridlington Road Runners for the difficult terrain.
This is a 5.4 mile course all off road, with stretches still covered in thick ice and others ankle-deep in mud.
The ladies team continued to run well, clustering together to finish second team on the day and keeping second place in the league.
The first lady home was Emma Brown, showing that her marathon training is really starting to pay off. She finished sixth overall and was 1st L40 in 40.22. Brown was followed by Cath Wood in seventh who was first L35 and Becky Clifton made up the point scorers in ninth in 41.59 and was second L40.
Janet Potter had another good run in 18th in 49.25 and was first L55, with Mandy Holah, Zoe Williams and Amanda Tindall making up the ladies team.
The men finished in fifth place on the day. John Nolan was the first Bridlington runner home in 26th place in 38.00. Other excellent performances came from John Potter (1st M60), Chris Yeomans (2nd M65) and Bob Eyre (1st M70).
