Warm conditions greeted runners in the Driffield Mucky Duck race on Sunday, with an 8.5-mile course which is run on and off road.
It was also second race to count in the Bridlington Road Runners’ club summer league, and attracted 20 members. The hills were, as usual, unforgiving, but that did not stop some good times and a few personal bests on the course.
Phill Taylor was on course for a top three finish but became ill just over two miles in and had to drop out, so Peter Gulc, in his first race since the London Marathon, was first Bridlington runner back in 15th in a time of 52:48.
Next was John Nolan in 21st in a time of 55:40, with Emma Brown following as she was the second lady overall, finishing in 34th place in 57:51.
Having his first outing in club colours, Patrick Day finished in under an hour in a time of 59:12 in 41st place.
Sarah wood was Bridlington’s second lady back finishing 58th in 1:01:37.

Cathy Wood ran the Edinburgh Marathon,only a month after running in the Manchester Marathon, but had recovered just enough for this scenic run, alongside over 16,000 runners.
On an extremely hot day, she managed a great time of 3:17:52, finishing an excellent 436th position, while Simon Ellerker finished the Edinburgh Half Marathon in 1:35:48 and in 407th position,
