Riley takes Constable Handicap race

It was an overcast morning in Bridlington on Sunday but the gloomy sky was brightened by the 35 Bridlington Road Runners who gathered for the annual Constable Handicap.

First off were the junior members and they were led home by youngsters Flossie Screeton and Izzie Canning in handicap times of 16:05 and 16:53 respectively.

The boy with the fastest time on the day was Shaun Foster who completed the course in 9:19 and Kirsten Porter had the quickest girl’s time with 11:49.

The senior male and female runners ran over a 6.37 mile course which takes in Sewerby and Danes Dyke before returning to the seafront finish.

The overall winner of the handicap was James Riley in a handicap time of 63:59. In overall second place and winner of the ladies race was Tracy Donaldson in 64:17.

Completing the course in the quickest time was Emma Brown who blew the competition away with a time of 41:42. The next fastest times came from Tony Smith in 42:01 and Simon Ellerker in 42:57.
