The views of director of rugby Rich Girking after the defeat to North Ribblesdale
“A HUGE display of true Brid-style character is needed for next week’s top-of-the-table clash with Huddersfield after this gut-wrenching smash-and-grab raid by Ribblesdale.
“The game should have been won by half time but a mix of poor finishing, superb scrambling defence and an ability to slow our ruck ball down kept Ribb alive.
“With YMCA, Ilkley and Wath all winning we find ourselves in fourth place but the chance to put this huge disappointment behind us comes quickly and I’m sure the squad will be aware that our performance must improve on Saturday at YMCA.
“Full credit must go to Ribb who hung on and came strong in the final quarter, scoring in the dying minutes.
“Also thanks to the Ribb flagman who mentioned on four occasions in the bar afterwards that Ribb never win away from home.
“Back to basics has to be the way forward, working hard in training as a team and learning from our mistakes will reap rewards.
“The look of hurt on people’s faces after the game told a story and knowing the passion in our squad, Saturday can’t come soon enough.
“There were great performances from Sizwe Zondo and Ryan Girking in midfield, constantly breaking the line and tackling ferociously. Jimmy Thompson had another strong game but man of the match went to Danny Perkin.
“Tickets are on sale for our Hallowe’en bash at the club on October 27, £5 entry.
“Come and support the club, prizes for best fancy dress, disco, food and service with a smile.”
