Entries are flying in as the country’s fastest growing sport welcomes players from all over the UK back to Bridlington Links for the UK FootGolf Classic on June 7 and 8.

This will be the second time the competition, which is once again sponsored by East Yorkshire Events, will be held in Bridlington.

The 2013 inaugural event was broadcast by TransWorld Sport and viewed by 90,000 people on YouTube and an estimated worldwide TV audience of 40 million people.

The new sport has been running in the UK for less than 24 months but has already gained a huge following from a broad range of players.

Britain is at the forefront of the FootGolf’s development and second only to the United States in number of courses offering the sport.

The UK FootGolf Classic is the one of four UK Mmjors of the season and a great endorsement for the Bridlington Links course.

Around 150 players from across the UK are expected to take part in the two-day competition which will see a full 18-hole round of FootGolf played on both days.

The player with the lowest total score over both days will go home with a large share of the £2,000 prize fund.

Casual players who cannot make both days are still encouraged to come along and try the sport with single day entries also available.

Michael O’Connor, president of the UK FootGolf Association, said: “It’s great returning to the Bridlington Links to hold another one of our major events which really acknowledges the fantastic job the course did in delivering such a successful competition last year.

“The sport has gone through the roof over the last 12 months and the media following is huge once again.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming all the local footballers, soccer clubs and interested sportsmen and women to the event so come along and give it a go.”

Entry into the event is open to anyone and places are still available. The inclusive nature of the sport means there is no need for any prior experience to take part.

A two-day full event entry costs £25 per person and gives an 18-hole round of footgolf on both days.

A one-day taster event entry is also available for either day priced at £15 for 18 holes.
