Quintet take on biathlon event

FIVE swimmers from Bridlington tested their running against the clock as well as their ability in the pool.

They were all involved in the Yorkshire Regional Biathlon Championships at St Margaret’s School, in Escrick, near York.

Blossom Green was the overall winner in the Minimus Girls category. her time of 56.76 seconds was the fastest for the swim and she completed the run in 2:26:90 to amass 1682 points.

Tom King picked up fifth place in the Youth C Boys event. His swimming pedigree shone through as he was the fastest in the pool in 1:04:32. He was 13th in the run, giving him 1,988 points.

Kyle McKenna managed sixth in the Youth D category. He too was the quickest swimmer, clocking 34.25 seconds, and again he was 13th on the track, finishing in 4:10:30.

That was enough to earn 1796 points.

Bridlington had two competitors in the Youth C Girls races. Yasmin Brown finished fifth after a swim of 1:05:77 and a run of 7:08:20.

In 13th was Sophie Holdsworth, ninth after a good swim, she was 18th in the running. Yasmin finished with 1702 points and Sophie with 1,511.
