FIFTEEN members of the Bridlington Special Pool team were on duty for England at the World Blackball Pool Tournament at the Spa last week.
They joined players from Morecambe and Rotherham to make up two England sides, with many of the Bridlington contingent lining up for the B team.
They beat old rivals Wales by 17 frames to 16, and also overcame Scotland 7-4, but found the visitors from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland too strong.
The Ladies A team, featuring two Bridlington players, Josie Brocklehurst and Julie Mansell, were runners-up, losing to world champions Ireland in the final.
Bridlington team manager John Ropero said the current squad is the strongest the town has produced and their next assignment is to represent Yorkshire against Lancashire in September.
Mr Ropero said: “The Bridlington squad practice each week at Swanhouse Day Centre and once a week at the Trinity Club, playing their team.
“The Nags Head in Old Town let us use their table each week and this is all good for the team, trying out differemt tables and we are very grateful to these people.”
