It was a pleasant morning at Sewerby with sufficiently breezy conditions to make August’s first Saturday Parkrun interesting.

Phill Taylor was the first to finish in a time of 17:15 and he was followed by Martin Smith in third place with 19:22.

Two members set personal bests for the course. These were Ashley Porter who had a time of 22:27 in 11th position and Zoe Williams was 29th with 26:13.

Mandy Holah came within a hair’s breadth of beating her personal best, missing it by only two seconds in 35th place with 27:02.

Others taking part were: Kevin Sissons (10th) 22:24, Adam Fairest (15th) 24:53, Ray Robinson (20th) 25:20, Rebekah Pratley (25th) 25:37, Ben Smith (27th) 26:08, Joseph Pratley (33rd) 26:57, Kirsten Porter (42nd) 29:08, Simon Porter (44th) 30:26, Amanda Tindall (45th) 30:37, Andy Godfrey (51st) 33:31 and Reid Haddow, who was acting as back marker, was 61st with 41:23.

Three Bridlington Road Runners members took part in the Jane Tomlinson charity event at York. Andy Baker was 91st in 40:09, Reid Haddow was 878th in 50:56 and Julie Madden was 1287th in 52:59.

Meanwhile, over in West Yorkshire, Andrea Parker and Mark Loft took part in the Saltaire Shaker 15k. This event is entirely off-road and includes beautiful views while running along paths, tracks and a canal towpath.

Parker finished in 141st place with a time of 1:32:58 and Loft was close behind in 142nd spot with 1:33:04.

On the same day, Patrick Day took part in the Blakey Blitz Fell Race on the North York Moors, running well to finish 35th in a time of 1:49:58.

A bright morning at Sewerby last Saturday saw a record field of 77 runners taking part in this event.

Martin Smith equalled his best time of 19:01 to finish in second place.

Next home was Mark Woodley in 13th place with 21:16.and he was closely followed by Simon Porter in 21:57 in 15th position.

Three runners put in personal best performances. Newcomer Danny Manson was 27th in 24:27, Zoe Williams was 30th in 24:54 and Mandy Holah was 38th in 26:29.
