Patterson’s 12 pars earn cup

Bridlington Links hosted the Cowling Cup, an individual stableford competition played off full handicap

Graham Patterson took the first division and overall winner spot with a fine -3 score of 39 points off a handicap of nine. He shot 38 on the front nine and 40 on the back nine with 12 pars and six bogies, continuing his good run of consistent scoring.

Chris Tindall came in just one shot behind with 38 points, closely followed by Kev Wadsworth with 37.

There was a similar story in the second division with the in-form Andy Green taking the spoils, also with 39 points, just one ahead of Charlie Outhard with 38. Colin Steptoe took third with 36 points.

Taffy Davies took the third division spoils with 36 points, with Jamie Lowe second and John Kelly third.

Only Chris Baxter and Nick Belt recorded twos.

A warm and windless day brought many ladies’ to the Links last Thursday to play in the Elsie Walker Cup - a stableford competition.

A very close match saw Sue Horsman as the victor with an excellent 33 points, closely followed by Margot Shaw, one shot behind.

In third place was Hilary Marshall with 30 points.
