MATTY Raybould has qualified for the 2011 Wee Wonders Championship at the home of golf, St Andrew’s.
The 12-year-old took first place in the Northern Qualifier for his age group at the Wyke Ridge course in Leeds.
He finished the 12-hole course in just 38 shots which included nine pars and a birdie two when he holed from 30 feet on the eighth.
He now advances to the finals in August when he will take on the winners from the five other English events along with the Ireland, Wales and Scotland winners.
Matty last qualified in 2009 and in the first round shot a sub-par 29 to lead after day one, before eventually finishing fifth.
He now plays off a handicap of eight at Bridlington Golf Club, after a 75 gross in the last medal competition, and has benefited from extra coaching from Yorkshire and England’s head coach Graham Walker.
Brendan Wright finished fourth in the 9/10 category, carding a 46 over 12 holes.
