The views of director of rugby Kieran Lawry after the 23-22 win at Ilkley
“IT’S hard to put into words how satisfying our result was and how happy it makes you feel to see the many hours of hard work pay off.
“Saturday was probably our best result of the season so far against a very strong, physical and determined Ilkley side who do not get beaten very often at home.
“We showed great belief, even when under immense pressure including a period with 14 men after Martin Robinson’s yellow card.
“We also suffered a couple of injuries including a broken finger to our influential scrum half Robinson that saw him leave the field for a second time.
“We gave a starting debut to our three New Zealand imports and all three performed magnificently with great commitment, tough tackling and plenty of work around the park.
“Jamie Muru once again directed the game with his usual expertise bringing our exciting back line into play at every opportunity.
“Despite the close scoreline and us hanging on a little at the end of the match the home side could not live with us when we played our fast attacking style of rugby.
“The intensity we showed at times matched with the excellent skill levels were too much to contain and I really believe the team is developing fantastically from last year.
“We are now winning games which last season we would have lost and I genuinely believe that we are entering an exciting time for Bridlington Rugby Club.
“This Saturday we have a massive game that could have a big impact on the rest of the season when we entertain third placed Heath at Dukes Park.
“With the confidence running sky high at present I fully expect us to go out and attack them from the start.
“If we do this to our potential then I’m sure another good home win will be on the cards.
“It would be fantastic to get a big crowd down to get behind us and hopefully enjoy a few beers in the bar afterwards.
“It’s also the club fancy dress Halloween party on the evening which is open for anyone to come down and enjoy.
“I’m sure if we secure a good win there will be plenty of scary sights come the evening!”
