Children looking for a new and exciting challenge are being encouraged to take up rugby in Bridlington.

Registration for the new season is just around the corner with new rules and smaller teams being introduced to try to make it a faster and more exciting game.

Tag rugby is played between the ages of six and under eight, then contact rugby is played between under nine and Under 17.

RFU rules state you must be six to play, players must be within one month of being six, but are more than welcome to join throughout the season.

Bridlington RUFC has teams ranging from u7s to u14s and also a u17 side. All ages are coached by fully qualified coaches, and it is hoped to restart U15 and U16 sides.

Nicola Fowler, from the club’s junior section, said: “The ethos of the game is to instil discipline, sportsmanship, teamwork, respect but above all enjoyment. We have lots of fun throughout the season including a Christmas party and presentation day.

Registration is on Sundays, 1 and 8 September. from 10.30am at the Clubhouse on Queensgate. Subs have been reduced this year £20 for the first child and £15 for any other children in the family.
