Indoor bowler Aled Jones enjoyed quadruple success during the winter season at Bridlington’s Leisure World.
Jones entered four leagues at the start of the campaign in October and by close of proceedings in March was the only regular bowler to boast a 100% record.
Consistently good all season, he won the Monday Mixed Pairs League with Joan Woodliffe, the Tuesday Men’s Pairs League with Brian Dudson, the Wednesday Any Pairs League with John Grant and the Friday Any Triples League with Brian Dudson and John Grant.
In total, Jones competed in 64 matches, winning 49 of them with 2 draws and 13 defeats.
There was also a poignant moment too as the match played on Friday, March 22, was the last competitive game of indoor bowls to be played at Leisure World before its demolition and rebuilding programme.
The historic match really lived up to its billing, with the players knowing that whoever won, was guaranteed top spot in the league.
In the end, Jones, Dudson and Grant ran out 18-8 victors against the talented team of Derek Wardle, Eric Robson and David Bond.
