Following George Rhodes’ second pro fight in Hull on Saturday, both Shaun Ireland and Ross Downie have dates in their diary.

Ireland’s second pro fight will be against Scotsman Michael Stupar at the Doncaster Dome on Saturday August 29.

The featherweight shone in his first fight against Joe Beedon and is out to impress again at the end of the month.

Ireland said: “I want to perform well again, Beedon was a tough and awkward kid and I had to stick to the gameplan, which I thought I did.

“I won’t go looking for the knockout, if I see an opening I’ll try and take advantage.”

Tickets are still available for Ireland’s fight, priced at £35 for standard seats or £65 for a ringside seat with dinner and waitress service.

Downie is set to make his professional debut on Friday September 18 at Barnsley Metrodome.

His opponent is yet to be announced, but whoever it is he’s ready to start his professional career with a bang.

Downie’s joint-trainer and manager Ryan Ashworth can’t wait to see his man in action.

Ashworth said: “We’re getting out and about putting in the graft and laying the platform for Ross to go on and achieve something in the professional game.

“He makes his debut in Barnsley on September 18 and we can’t wait.

“We have a three-year plan for Ross and we need to put in a lot of ground work for him to achieve these goals.

“He’s sparring some good kids, so he’ll be ready come September 18.”

Tickets are on sale for Downie’s debut, priced at £35 or £55 ringside with waitress service.

Transport leaves the Newlands at 4pm with boxing set to start at 7pm.

George Horner has been given a date to see the British Boxing Board of Control and can’t wait to get going now.

He said: “I’ve got my interview on August 9 and then I’ll have to get my medical sorted before I can make my debut, but we’re aiming for the end of September or October. I can’t wait now.”
