With both the Mariners’ and Marauders’ oppositions not able to field a side, the two Bridlington sides decided to have a friendly training game of their own.
The teams played a 12-a-side game, of 25 minutes each way. Mariners got the upper hand in the game during the first half, and so for the second half a couple of players were swapped, in an attempt to even up the sides, but the Mariners side were still victorious at the end of the game.
Bridlington U17s hosted Thornensians on Sunday, having lost by a single point in the reverse fixture at the start of the season.
The home side started the game strongly and managed to keep their momentum throughout the game. Despite conceding a try to the visitors, they eventually ran out victorious after scoring two tries, by Lewis Shaw and Taylah Muru, with Josh Raynor kicking a conversion and two penalties. The final score was 18-5.
